Bubs Swedish Candy in Australia

The brand at the centre of the Swedish candy trend

Bubs makes the skulls and the ovals, the two shapes that carried Swedish candy around the world. The trend broke internationally in 2024 off a TikTok about a Swedish sweet shop in New York, and demand ran so far ahead of production that Swedish supplies dried up by the autumn.

TIME named Bubs one of its Best Inventions of 2025.

Foamy vegan gummies … a unique foamy texture created with a proprietary recipe and manufacturing technique.

Orkla, which acquired Bubs in 2023, then agreed in July 2026 to buy a European manufacturer for €207 million to add Bubs capacity for export markets. Two and a half years on, that is a track record rather than a spike.

Bubs sold in the United States is made in the United States, under a partnership with a Texas manufacturer. What we ship is the Swedish-made product, out of Jönköping in southern Sweden, where the Lindström family started Bubs in 1992 and where it is still made today.

Foam or jelly, and which is which

The skulls are jelly and the ovals are foam. They’re separate products at Bubs rather than two halves of one sweet, and it is the choice to make before ordering.

In the AU range

Skulls

Jelly. Firm chew, the flavour builds and lasts.

Surskalle, raspberry and liquorice

Ovals

Foam. Gives and springs back, the flavour lands immediately, made with potato protein instead of gelatine.

banana toffee, strawberry vanilla

Surskalle is sharp on the coating with fruit underneath. Raspberry and liquorice is the sweet and salty one, raspberry against the ammonium chloride and liquorice extract that make salmiak, and Bubs calls it the original that changed the world. Banana toffee puts banana against caramel and is one of the brand’s best sellers. Strawberry and vanilla is sweet-tart strawberry with smooth vanilla, the mildest of the four.

Two of each, so one order covers both textures. Buying for a group, the ovals are the crowd-pleaser and the sour skull is the one people dare each other with.

Vegan across the whole range

Every Bubs product is vegan, with no gelatine, palm oil or AZO colours anywhere in the range. Bubs states it on its own sustainability page and repeats it on each product, and it covers all four that reach Australia.

The colour comes from food rather than dye. Both skulls take their shade from black carrot concentrate, the strawberry vanilla ovals from black carrot alone. Full ingredient lists sit on each product.

Filling a bigger box of Swedish lollies? The Swedish candy range puts Bubs next to Ahlgrens Bilar and the Malaco salt liquorice, all of it posted from Sweden to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Bubs questions, answered

Yes, Bubs candy ships to Australia. All four go out from our own warehouse in Sweden with free shipping and tracking, anywhere from Sydney and Melbourne to Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Bubs candy is available to order here and ships from Sweden rather than from a local shelf. You get Surskalle, the raspberry and liquorice skull, banana toffee ovals and strawberry vanilla ovals.

Swedish pick-and-mix candy went viral internationally in 2024, after a TikTok about a Swedish sweet shop in New York. Bubs skulls and ovals were the shapes that spread, demand outran Swedish production that year, and TIME went on to name Bubs one of its Best Inventions of 2025.

Bubs candy is made in Jönköping in southern Sweden, where the brand has been since 1992. Bubs sold in the United States is manufactured there under a partnership with a Texas company; what we ship is the Swedish-made product.

Every Bubs sweet is vegan. Bubs states that the whole range is free from gelatine, palm oil and AZO colours, so all four work for everyone at the table.

We hold no halal or kosher certification and we won’t claim one. Bubs does state that the entire range is vegan and free from gelatine and animal ingredients, and the full ingredient list sits on every product.

The skulls are jelly and the ovals are foam. Skulls chew firm and the flavour builds; ovals are springy and light, made with potato protein instead of gelatine. Two of each ship here.

Surskalle is the sour Bubs skull, sharp first and fruit underneath, a soft jelly under a sour coating. The raspberry and liquorice skull is the salty one.

One Bubs sweet carries liquorice. The raspberry and liquorice skull lists ammonium chloride and liquorice extract, which is what makes salmiak, the salty Swedish kind. The other three are fruit, toffee and vanilla.
